About the Event
Our monthly evening meditation session is a Yoga Nidra practice with Jennifer Steffener. The session will last 45-60 minutes so plan ahead...you might not want to talk to anyone afterward!
We often think of rest, sleep, and relaxation as synonymous. True rest is the act of conscious release, where the body can shift from a state of activity to a state of recovery.
Yoga Nidra or Yogic Sleep is a systematic guided meditation practice in which you move between two layers of consciousness to where the states of waking and dreaming meet. It’s in this powerful resting space that deep and progressive relaxation, recovery, and healing occur as physical, mental, and emotional tensions are soothed.
No experience necessary and all levels are welcome. Expect some gentle movements with breath to prepare. Yoga Nidra is practiced reclined or lying down in Savasana. Do your best to create a quiet, comfortable space with pillows and a blanket, if needed.
Jennifer Steffener is a Licensed Massage Therapist and owner of JS Associates for Therapeutic Massage, LLC. She has advanced training in a variety of massage techniques, Eastern healing and martial arts, fitness, and holistic-practices and has been serving clients and students for over 28 years. Jennifer is an accomplished Certified Tai Chi, Qigong, and Meditation Instructor and Registered Yoga Teacher. She provides educational and experiential self-development and healthy lifestyle workshops for first responders, teachers, corporations, cancer and chronic illness thrivers, as well as her local community.
